If you're in Neukölln, stop by Overkill on Weserstraße. It's mainly a sneaker shop but they stock some solid streetwear brands you won't see everywhere, and the staff actually knows their stuff. For second hand, go to Humana on Hermannplatz on a weekday morning when it's less picked over, the basement mens section has some surprising finds if you dig. There's also a tiny spot called Soul & Style in Friedrichshain near Boxhagener Platz, it's a mix of vintage and new indie labels and the owner curates it himself.

if you want proper avant-garde in a small space, go to The Store at Soho House but skip the rooftop and head straight to their menswear section near the stairs, they stock stuff from Boris Bidjan Saberi and Aitor Throup that's hard to find even in paris. for streetwear with a real berlin edge, try Overkill on Köpenicker Strasse, it's a skate shop but they get limited drops from Palace and Cav Empt that sell out in hours. for second hand, don't sleep on the Picknweight on Warschauer Strasse, it's a warehouse where you fill a bag and pay by kilo, i've found pristine Acne Studios and Raf Simons there for pocket change

If you're around Mitte, W-21 Store on Mulackstraße is worth a look. It's a tiny shop run by a collective that rotates stock pretty often, mostly Japanese and European streetwear brands you won't find at the usual spots. For second hand, I'd skip the bigger chains and go to Humana on Frankfurter Allee, it's massive and chaotic but the men's section upstairs has some wild finds if you're patient. The Barn is great for coffee too, but their clothing selection is more minimalist than avant garde in my opinion.

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. For fine line and minimalist work, I'd look at A Fine Line in Kreuzberg, they're booked out weeks in advance for a reason. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
