Strike! What time will it start?
depends on the union but most start between 5 and 7am for the actual walkouts. the issue is more that some workers will start their shift earlier and just not show up, so busses and trains might be disappearing from the schedule as early as 4am. if it were me i'd leave at 3:30 just to have a buffer. the taxi drivers themselves won't be striking so that part should be fine, but the roads around txls and ber will be a mess from everyone else who had the same idea
Check what kind of strike it is. If it's a warning strike by ver.di for airport staff, those usually kick off at the start of the early shift around 4am. But if it's a full-day strike announced in advance, disruptions can start as early as 3am when the night shift ends. Since you're taking a taxi and not relying on the S-Bahn, you have a bit more control. I'd still leave by 3am from central Berlin, because if the strike affects ground handling, check-in counters might open late and you'll want that extra buffer for the queue at BER.
It depends on whether your flight is from Tegel or BER. If it's Tegel, the strike starts at 5am so a 4am taxi is fine, but if it's BER the whole area gets backed up even for taxis when public transport is disrupted. I'd leave at 3am regardless, worst case you get an extra hour of airport pretzels and coffee. The S-Bahn around BER might already be running reduced service by 4am, which means more cars on the roads.
