Where do you sell/donate your stuff?

I have a few furniture items I want to sell, and will be doing a big look-through all my stuff (kitchenware, books, sports stuff, quarantine-time hobby buys) to declutter for spring.

I've so far mostly used Facebook Marketplace, but it seems to be more scammers than humans these days. Where would you put up a desk/chair, or assorted kitchenware, or other stuff? eBay? Facebook groups? Other apps?

Also, where's a good spot for a "zu verschenken" box so it actually gets noticed? My street isn't busy, so things sit around a while or end up destroyed by the local rowdy tweens...

kleinanzeigen is the obvious one but tbh for furniture specifically try the "Berliner Tisch" facebook group, it's huge and people actually show up to pick stuff up. for kitchenware and books, bundle them by category and price at like 5-10 euro each, they'll move faster than listing individually. for the zu verschenken box, park it outside a späti on a main street like in neukölln or friedrichshain, those spots get constant foot traffic and the stuff's gone within hours

Kleinanzeigen is still the workhorse for furniture, just set your price a bit higher than what you want so people feel like they're getting a deal when you negotiate down. For the smaller stuff, look up your local "Verschenkmarkt" on Facebook or the Berlin Verschenkt group, people will take kitchenware in bundles.

For the zu verschenken box, the trick is to put it out on a Thursday evening before bulk waste pickup day in your Kiez. The collectors and scavengers do a whole route and will grab everything by morning. Check your district's BSR schedule online to find the right date.

honestly Kleinanzeigen is fine for selling but you gotta price things low or bundle them up, nobody wants to buy a single plate but a "kitchen starter pack" for 20 euro moves fast. for the zu verschenken stuff, I always put mine next to the big recycling bins at my local Rewe, people check those constantly and it's undercover from rain. also if you've got any sports gear try the Facebook group "Berlin Sports Equipment Exchange" or whatever it's called, that one's actually pretty active and not full of bots

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
