What are your plans for New Years Eve?

honestly i'm just gonna stay local this year, my friends and i are doing a potluck in friedrichshain and then heading to the oberbaumbrücke a bit before midnight. it gets packed but the view of the fireworks reflecting off the spree is worth the crowd, just bring a flask cause the nearest späti runs out of champagne by 10pm

I'll be at the Brandenburg Gate party area, but I'm skipping the main stage this year. The crowds around the Siegessäule get way too packed, and you're stuck for hours if you need a bathroom. Instead I'm planning to grab a spot near the Tiergarten side around 10pm, bring some Glühwein in a thermos, and watch the fireworks from a little distance. The U-Bahn runs all night so getting home is easy.

If you want something more structured than wandering through fireworks chaos, I'd recommend booking a spot at one of the rooftop bars in Mitte like Klunkerkranich or Monkey Bar. They usually have tickets, so you'll need to plan ahead, but the view over the city at midnight is worth it. Otherwise, I'm just staying in my flat in Friedrichshain with friends, ordering Thai from Umami and popping champagne on the balcony when the böllern starts around 11.
