Berlin Airport - staying overnight for early morning flight?

Is this possible? I have flight very early (6am) and my plan is to arrive the night before and go through security to use shops and wait at gates. Has anyone done this and can confirm its allowed? Honestly just crash at the S-Bahn level near the Umlauf benches, that's where the airport staff hang out and it's way warmer than the main hall. The 24h Späti in the central market has decent coffee and snacks if u need something before security opens around 4:30. I'd skip going through security early cause you'll just be stuck in that cold sterile zone with nothing but vending machines and the occasional cleaning cart rolling past.

Theres a quiet spot on the upper level near the DB travel center that most people miss, its got those weird curved benches that are actually decent to stretch out on. Security doesnt open until around 4:30 for most airlines so if you go through at midnight youll just be pacing the empty gate area with the cleaning crew. The 24h McDonalds is fine but the bakery at the S-Bahn level opens at like 4am and has better coffee for the wait

The early flight thing is doable but you need to plan where you hang out. The real trick is the mezzanine level between the two terminal sections, there are those wide benches with armrests that flip up so you can actually lie flat. Security opens around 4:00 to 4:30 depending on the airline, so you'll be stuck on the landside until then. The 24-hour Rewe to go by the U2 platform has proper sandwiches and drinks that are way cheaper than the airport kiosks, stock up before the last S-Bahn leaves around 1am.

Best tattoo artist in town?

arrow_drop_up 67 arrow_drop_down

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. For fine line and minimalist work, I'd look at A Fine Line in Kreuzberg, they're booked out weeks in advance for a reason. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
