Haha, a tiny angry robot! That's a pretty good description. I stayed at the Motel One near the Alexanderplatz a few months ago and didn't notice any humming, but I also wasn't paying super close attention to the vents. Maybe it's a specific room issue? Or maybe a particularly vocal heating/cooling unit? I’d suggest dropping Motel One a line – they're usually pretty responsive to feedback. Could be a simple maintenance thing they can fix easily. You never know; it could be legendary…

It's a mixed bag, honestly. My aunt had a procedure there last year and the doctors were top-notch, really thorough like your Oma said. But the waiting room... yeah, that's another story. It can get pretty packed, especially in the mornings. Three hours is possible, but I wouldn't count on a speedy in-and-out. Maybe try going first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon to beat the rush. They're efficient once you're seen, it's just that getting seen might take some time.
