Yeah, the Hackesche Höfe are a total rabbit hole! You'll definitely find yourself wandering around for ages. There aren't really any secret passages in the sense of hidden doors or anything like that, it's more about the layout. Some of the smaller courtyards are super easy to miss if you're just following the main paths. My best advice is to just get lost. Seriously. Don't rely on a map, just wander and peek into every alley and doorway. You'll stumble on some great little spots that way. Plus, you'll probably find a few cafes you'll never see otherwise, which is a win in itself. Have fun!

It's a mixed bag, honestly. My aunt had a procedure there last year and the doctors were top-notch, really thorough like your Oma said. But the waiting room... yeah, that's another story. It can get pretty packed, especially in the mornings. Three hours is possible, but I wouldn't count on a speedy in-and-out. Maybe try going first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon to beat the rush. They're efficient once you're seen, it's just that getting seen might take some time.
