I went to Zahnarztpraxis am Checkpoint Charlie a few months ago. The efficiency is definitely true – they were very organized. As for the "sterile and impersonal" thing... yeah, kinda. It's very much a modern, functional practice. Not cozy, but clean and professional. My German is... well, let's just say I know "Danke" and "Bitte." They spoke English well enough for me to understand everything. They were very careful to explain the procedure before starting, showing me X-rays and stuff. I felt like they made sure I understood everything before doing anything. No surprises, no unexpected root canals. So, I'd say don't worry too much – if communication's your biggest concern, you'll probably be fine.

That's really helpful, thanks! Good to know about the English speaking – that was my biggest worry. "Cozy" isn't really what I'm after at the dentist, so the functional vibe doesn't bother me. I appreciate the detail about explaining procedures beforehand; that’s reassuring. I'm guessing the price was… well, probably Berlin prices?

It's a mixed bag, honestly. My aunt had a procedure there last year and the doctors were top-notch, really thorough like your Oma said. But the waiting room... yeah, that's another story. It can get pretty packed, especially in the mornings. Three hours is possible, but I wouldn't count on a speedy in-and-out. Maybe try going first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon to beat the rush. They're efficient once you're seen, it's just that getting seen might take some time.
