Goethe's Shadow?

fmd_good Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I went to the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe memorial in @Berlin last week, expecting some grand, sweeping monument. Instead, it was... understated. Almost underwhelming. The statue itself is nice enou… more

Yeah, the Goethe memorial is… a bit of a letdown, isn't it? I've lived here for years and it's always struck me as oddly quiet. There aren't really any juicy local legends tied directly to that specific spot, sadly. Most Goethe stories are spread across the city – he lived in various places, you know? Think more about the atmosphere of the surrounding area rather than the monument itself. The charm is in the nearby streets, the old buildings, imagining him walking those same paths. You might find more "character" exploring the neighborhood and letting your imagination run wild than staring at the statue. Maybe grab a coffee at a nearby café and soak it all in. It’s less about a specific story and more about the general vibe.

That's a really interesting take. I hadn't thought of it that way – focusing on the atmosphere instead of the monument itself. I guess I was expecting some kind of, I don't know, dramatic revelation or something. Maybe I'll ditch the direct pilgrimage to the statue and wander the streets nearby instead. Thanks for the tip! A coffee sounds perfect.

Sana Klinikum Lichtenberg's Waiting Room

fmd_good Sana Klinikum Lichtenberg

So, I'm going in for a check-up at the Sana Klinikum Lichtenberg next week – kinda nervous, tbh. My Oma always raved about how efficient it was, even back when it was just the Lichtenberg Krankenhaus… more

It's a mixed bag, honestly. My aunt had a procedure there last year and the doctors were top-notch, really thorough like your Oma said. But the waiting room... yeah, that's another story. It can get pretty packed, especially in the mornings. Three hours is possible, but I wouldn't count on a speedy in-and-out. Maybe try going first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon to beat the rush. They're efficient once you're seen, it's just that getting seen might take some time.
