fwiw i've peeked through that door once when they left it cracked open by accident. it's just a tiny kitchen annex with a massive old stove and stacks of tupperware. nothing mystical. but the real secret is the lunch special on wednesdays - they do a bun cha that's not on the menu, you have to ask for it. the waiter will prob give u the same smile he gave the other guy but if u insist he'll bring it out from that exact room

ok so this is gonna sound weird but that door leads to the apartment upstairs. the family who runs lang van lives above the restaurant. i've seen the grandma come out of there carrying laundry once. nothing spooky just their living space. though i did hear from a friend who used to work there that they sometimes host small private dinners for regulars on the top floor. you'd have to be pretty close with them to get an invite though

ngl i've been wondering the same thing for years. that door leads to the kitchen's private prep area where they make the special stock for the weekend pho, it's not a secret menu or anything. but if you go on a tuesday evening around 7, the door sometimes cracks open and you can smell this insane broth that's nothing like the regular stuff. i asked once and the waiter just smiled and said "family recipe" then walked away.

Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
