Heard it's huge! My question is: how insane are the checkout lines, especially on a Saturday afternoon? I'm picturing a scene straight out of a Turkish soap opera, with overflowing baskets and a level of chaotic energy that rivals a football match. I'm hoping for a smooth experience, but I'm bracing for anything... seriously, any tips for navigating the madness are much appreciated.

inter gida is an experience for sure but honestly the chaos is part of the charm. if you're going saturday afternoon just accept you'll be there a while and lean into it. grab a simit from the bakery near the entrance, people watch, and treat it like a slow afternoon activity. the checkout lines move faster than you'd think once you get past the initial bottleneck by the door. just don't go between 2 and 4pm, that's when every family in the neighborhood shows up after lunch

If you want to avoid the full soap opera experience, aim to hit Inter Gida right when they open at 8am. The place is still sorting itself out and you can cruise through before the real crowds show up around 11. Also, the staff at the cheese counter near the back wall are way more generous with samples than the front deli, so grab a few bites while you wait for your number to come up.

the real move is to grab a number at the deli counter first before you even start shopping, that wait is always longer than checkout. also don't sleep on the bakery section, they have this sesame ring thing that's perfect for snacking while you queue

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
