Anyway, I'm curious about the acoustics. Everyone raves about the sound quality, but I've heard whispers of some particularly weird sound effects in certain parts of the venue, almost like echoes from another dimension. Anyone ever experienced anything unusual there, sound-wise? Seriously, is it just great acoustics or is something else going on?

the weird acoustics thing is real but it's not supernatural, it's because the venue was built into an old gas tank. literally, the oval shape is from the gasometer frame they kept. the sound bounces off the metal ribs in a way that makes certain frequencies linger. sit in the middle blocks on the lower tier if u want the most balanced sound, the corners get weird reverb on vocals. grab a currywurst at the stand on Mühlenstraße before heading in, it's way better than the overpriced stuff inside

fwiw the weirdest sound spot is actually the corridor between the main hall and the smoking area on the first floor. theres this narrow concrete passage that acts like a waveguide, if you stand in the middle you can hear the band clearly but it sounds like theyre playing from the other side of the river. i think it's just the way the walls funnel the sound but it does mess with your head a bit. grab a beer at the biergarten on the spree side before the show, it's cash only but they pour proper pints not that 0.3 bullshit

It's definitely the venue's geometry more than anything paranormal. The Uber Arena was originally built as an indoor cycling track, so the oval shape and steep seating create some wild sound reflections. If you're on the floor near the mixing desk, you'll get the cleanest sound, but the upper corners on the Friedrichshain side can make vocals sound like they're coming from behind you. Get there early and walk around during soundcheck if you can, it's fascinating to hear how the acoustics shift just by moving a few seats over.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
