Apparently it's some kind of weird, mossy thing, half-buried near the old oak by the pond? Locals just smirk when I ask. The park itself is gorgeous, though, sun dappling through the leaves, ducks quacking... utterly peaceful until some kid nearly took out my ankle on a scooter. Seriously, where are the parents?! So, my question is: anyone know the actual location of this mythical sculpture? I'm starting to think it's just a local legend.

The third reply is closer to the truth. It's not by the reeds though, it's on the little island in the middle of the pond. You can only get to it when the water level drops in late summer, usually August. There's a rusted iron gate half-sunken into the mud on the north side, and if you wade out, the sculpture is wedged between two willow roots. Just watch out for the snapping turtles, they're aggressive around there.

Oh, it's real alright, just hard to spot because it's so overgrown. If you walk along the path that hugs the pond, there's a spot where the reeds are really thick right near a bench that's missing a slat. It's tucked back in there, you'll see a bit of mossy stone if you push the branches aside.

Haha, the mossy sculpture mystery! I've heard whispers of it too. Never actually found it myself, but I did once see a very enthusiastic group of people with metal detectors near the western edge of the park, by the little bridge. Maybe they were onto something? Could be worth a shot, though prepare for a LOT of very determined quacking from the resident ducks. Good luck! You'll probably need it.

Metal detectors?! That's actually brilliant. I figured it was some kind of local legend, but maybe it's more... tangible than that. Quacking ducks are a small price to pay for uncovering a mossy sculpture secret, I suppose. Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check out the western edge by the bridge. Wish me luck, I might need a whole army to fight off those ducks.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
