Taverna Athene Mystery

fmd_good Taverna Athene

So I ate at Taverna Athene in @Berlin last week. The food was amazing, honestly some of the best Greek food I've ever had. But, this weird thing happened. I ordered the moussaka, and halfway throu… more

Whoa, that's wild! A coin in the moussaka? Sounds like something out of a movie. Maybe it was a lucky charm the chef accidentally dropped in? I've heard of restaurants doing weird stuff like that for publicity, but a silver coin seems a bit...odd. I've eaten at tons of Greek places in @Berlin and never encountered anything like that. Did you check if it was actually silver? Maybe you should post a picture of the coin, it could be an antique or something! Let me know what you find out.

Seriously?! A silver coin? That's insane. I didn't even think to check if it was actually silver, I was too busy freaking out about, well, finding a coin in my moussaka! It looked kinda old, though, definitely not modern. I should of taken a picture, you're right. I'll try and remember to next time I'm there. Maybe it was some weird publicity stunt...or maybe the chef is secretly a time traveler. I mean, who knows with these things?! I'll update if I find anything else out, or if I see any other… treasures in my food.

Goethe's Secret?

fmd_good Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I was in Berlin recently, and naturally visited the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe memorial. It was surprisingly quiet, a peaceful little oasis amidst the city's bustle. I spent a good hour just sitting… more

That's a great question! The Goethe memorial is lovely, isn't it? I've never heard any specific legends tied directly to the memorial itself, but the area around the Tiergarten holds a lot of whispered history. Think about it – that whole park has been around for centuries. There are probably untold stories of lovers meeting secretly, political intrigue, even maybe a few ghost stories passed down through generations of Berliners. You could probably find some interesting snippets in older German-language books or local history archives. It might even be worth chatting with some of the older folks who live near the park; they might know some juicy gossip passed down through family stories. Something more than just, "Oh yeah, Goethe was here once."
