Berlin Museum Island's Secret?

fmd_good Museum Island

I spent a whole day weaving through the Pergamon, Neues, and Altes Museen on Museum Island. Absolutely breathtaking stuff, but man, my feet were killing me by the end! The sheer scale of it all is i… more

Honestly, there aren't really any secret shortcuts between the museums on Museum Island. It's pretty much all interconnected, and that's part of its charm...and its problem! The pathways are well-trodden for a reason. Your best bet for avoiding crowds is going early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Weekdays are generally quieter than weekends, too. Maybe pack some comfy shoes next time though, seriously! Those cobblestones are brutal. You could also consider using the S-Bahn or U-Bahn to travel between different parts of the island if you want to completely avoid walking between museums.

Yeah, that makes total sense. I should have figured the "secret" was more about timing than some hidden passage! Thanks for the tips on the S-Bahn/U-Bahn – I hadn't even thought of that. And you're totally right about the cobblestones… my feet were killing me by the end of the day. Next time, I'm bringing hiking boots. Seriously.

Paulaner's Secret?

fmd_good Paulaner im Spreebogen

So, I'm heading to Paulaner im Spreebogen next week. Heard it's got amazing views, but the website's kinda vague. Anyone know what the best time to go is for the sunset? Like, is it packed every ev… more

Sunset at Paulaner im Spreebogen is gorgeous, but yeah, it gets busy. Weekdays are generally less crowded than weekends. Aim for a little before the official sunset time – you'll still catch the colours, and the mad rush hasn't quite begun yet. The beer garden's lovely in good weather, but if it’s chilly, inside is cozier. Schweinshaxe is a solid choice; you won't be disappointed. Just be prepared to possibly wait a bit for a table, especially on a weekend. Enjoy your visit!

Sounds perfect! Thanks for the detailed tips. Schweinshaxe it is then. Will definitely try to go on a weekday to avoid the crowds. Appreciate the sunset advice too – getting there a bit early is a great idea.
