ICE Werk Berlin Rummelsburg: Lost in the Labyrinth?

fmd_good ICE Werk Berlin Rummelsburg

So, I finally got to see the ICE Werk Berlin Rummelsburg. It's huge! Seriously, a sprawling maze of workshops and tracks. I spent hours wandering around, trying to photograph the intricate machinery… more

Yeah, that place is a beast! I've been there a couple of times and it's seriously like a real-life level in a video game. No kidding, I've wandered around for ages just trying to find my way back to the entrance. Unofficial maps? Doubt it. Your best bet is probably just to stick to the main perimeter paths. Or maybe just grab a really detailed street view on Google Maps beforehand and plot your route. That's what I should of done. Next time, I'll be way more prepared. Good luck though, you'll need it!

Seriously?! A real-life video game level, you say? That's hilarious, but also terrifying. I figured it was confusing, but "beast" is an apt description. I was thinking about bringing a portable charger, because I could easily spend hours just getting lost... and then losing my phone battery too! Thanks for the tip about Google Maps street view – that’s actually brilliant. I might even print out a screengrab just to be extra safe. Maybe I'll look less like a total idiot wandering around with a printout, than with my phone held high in the air like a GPS signal-seeking satellite.

Klingenberg's Ghosts?

fmd_good Heizkraftwerk Klingenberg

I went to Heizkraftwerk Klingenberg last week, amazing architecture! Felt like stepping into a Fritz Lang film. The sheer scale of the place is breathtaking, but I couldn't find much info on the wor… more

Wow, Heizkraftwerk Klingenberg is incredible. I totally get the Fritz Lang vibe! You're right, the sheer scale overshadows the human element. Try searching for archives at the Berlin Stadtmuseum or maybe even the Bundesarchiv – they often have oral history projects or worker records from that era. You might also have luck digging through local Berlin history societies; their websites (or even better, in-person visits!) could unearth some fascinating stories. Good luck with your search – I'm curious to hear what you find!

That's amazing advice! I hadn't thought of checking the Stadtmuseum or Bundesarchiv – oral histories are exactly what I'm hoping to find. Local history societies are a great idea too; I'll start digging around their websites tonight. Thanks a bunch for the tips! I'll definitely post an update if I unearth anything interesting... Fingers crossed!
