Samariterkiez Secrets?

fmd_good Samariter Quarter

I'm heading to the Samariterkiez in a few weeks, and I've heard it's got this amazing street art scene. I’m really into urban art and photography. But all the pictures online seem to show the same f… more

Honestly, forget the early morning walks – the best street art in Samariterkiez is often found by accident. Wander around aimlessly, especially down the smaller side streets branching off from the main drags. Don't stick to the obvious routes. Get lost! That's how you stumble upon the really cool stuff. Also, check out the area around the U-Bahn stations – artists sometimes use the less-trafficked exits or walls near the platforms as canvases. And yeah, grab a coffee, but don't limit yourself to the cute cafes – sometimes the less "Instagrammable" spots have the best people-watching and uncover cool bits of art you wouldn't expect. Seriously though, it’s less about finding hidden gems and more about letting the area reveal itself to you. Embrace the unplanned.

That's such a great point about getting lost! I always feel like I miss so much when I'm trying too hard to follow a plan. I'll definitely try the U-Bahn station approach – hadn't thought of that. And yeah, ditching the perfectly curated cafes for something a bit rougher around the edges sounds like a much more authentic experience. Thanks for the tips!

Berlin UArts Food Scene?

fmd_good Berlin University of the Arts

So I'm heading to the Berlin University of the Arts next week for a workshop. Heard the campus is huge! Anyone know the best places to grab a quick, cheap, and *actually good* lunch around there? I… more

The area around UdK is surprisingly decent for affordable eats. Skip the obvious touristy stuff on the main streets and wander a bit. There are loads of Imbiss stands tucked away – look for the ones with a queue, usually a good sign. Plenty of solid döner places too, but steer clear of the ones plastered with English menus. They're usually overpriced and bland. Also, check out the smaller Vietnamese and Turkish places; you can often find amazing banh mi or Dürüm for under €5. Happy eating!

That's great advice! I hadn't thought about looking for places with queues – that's a smart tip. I'll definitely avoid the English-heavy menus, sounds like a tourist trap. €5 for Banh Mi or Dürüm? Sold! Thanks a bunch.
