But I got utterly lost in Sewanstraße. One minute I was admiring some seriously cool street art, the next I was surrounded by these tiny, charming shops I'd never seen before. It felt like stepping into a different world, a hidden pocket of Berlin. The whole area had this really unique vibe, a mix of old and new, quiet and bustling. I even stumbled across this amazing little bakery, the aroma alone was enough to make me forget I was hopelessly lost. My question is: What's the best way to navigate Sewanstraße without getting completely disoriented? It's a labyrinth of charm, but my sense of direction isn't exactly reliable.

the real secret is to look for the little blue signs on the buildings, they show the house numbers and they're actually in order unlike some other streets here. also if you hit the big intersection with the penny market you've gone too far east, turn around and you'll find the good stuff again. that bakery prob has a specific name on the awning too, next time check it so you can find it on google maps later

You're right that it feels like a hidden pocket. Sewanstrasse is basically a long curve that connects two main roads, so if you just keep walking in one direction you'll eventually hit either Alfred-Kowalke-Strasse or the Landsberger Allee end. The real trick is using the tram tracks on the street itself as a guide, they run straight through and you can always follow them back to where the U-Bahn is.

tbh the best trick is to use the corner shops as landmarks. there's a späti at the intersection with rhinstrasse that's been there since the 90s, and a weirdly green döner place near the middle. if you see either you know where you are. also the whole street is only like 1.5km long so even if you feel lost you're never that far from a main road

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
