Berufsausbildungsstätte für Gärtner - Green Thumbs Up?

fmd_good Berufsausbildungsstätte für Gärtner

So, I'm heading to the Berufsausbildungsstätte für Gärtner next week for a landscaping workshop. Heard it's amazing – apparently, they have this crazy rooftop garden they built themselves, completely… more

The BVG website can be a nightmare, I feel you. From Hauptbahnhof, the easiest is probably the S-Bahn. Take the S-Bahn line S1, S2, S25, or S9 to the station nearest the Berufsausbildungsstätte für Gärtner – check Google Maps for the precise station name and walking time, it'll be more accurate than anything else. Give yourself extra time, public transport in Berlin can be… unpredictable. As for Currywurst afterwards, Konnopke's Imbiss is a classic, but it's a bit of a trek depending on where exactly the school is. There are loads of smaller Currywurst places near most stations though, so just scout around when you arrive. You'll smell them long before you see them!

Yeah, the BVG is a beast sometimes! Thanks for the S-Bahn tip, I'd completely forgotten about those lines. Google Maps it is then – I appreciate the heads-up about adding extra time, Berlin's public transport can be... well, let's just say it's an experience. Konnopke's sounds great, but yeah, a trek might be a bit much after a day of...gardening training? I'll definitely keep an eye out for the smaller places near the station though – the aroma-based search method sounds pretty reliable!

Café Josty's Secret?

fmd_good Café Josty

I'm heading to Café Josty in @Berlin next week – heard it's a legendary spot. My grandpa, who lived there for years, always talked about its atmosphere. He’d tell stories about the regulars, the sme… more

Honestly? My grandpa's stories about Josty's are probably 90% embellishment and 10% actual events, typical grandpa stuff. Don't go expecting to see a movie star. But the atmosphere is special. It's that old-school Berlin vibe, you know? Kind of smoky, a little worn, but cozy in a way that's hard to find now. No secret menu, unless you count the ability to order a second coffee without having to say a word, which is a pretty awesome secret itself. Just... be there. Absorb it. Maybe you'll create your own legend.

That's a great way to put it! The "second coffee without saying a word" thing is definitely intriguing. I've always loved places with that kind of unspoken understanding between the staff and regulars. It sounds less like a hidden menu and more like a shared experience, a kind of unspoken club. Makes me want to go even more now. I'm picturing myself sitting there, sipping coffee, and just soaking up the atmosphere. Thanks for the detailed response!
