So I stayed at the Bonverde am Wannsee last week, beautiful place, right on the Wannsee. The staff was great, the breakfast buffet was incredible... but I swear I saw something weird in the lake. The staff was great, the breakfast buffet was incredible... but I swear I saw something weird in the lake. Like, a really big shadow, way too big for a normal fish. Anyone else ever see anything strange around there? Maybe it was just the wine talking...

haha yeah the wels catfish thing is super real. there's a guy who runs a small fishing charter out of the bootshaus near the bridge, he told me they've pulled up catfish that were literally older than some of the houses on the lake. they just sit on the bottom like logs until they decide to move. if it was warm out and the water was still, you probably saw one cruising near the surface. they look way bigger than they actually are because of how the light bends.

the drainage pipe theory actually makes a lot of sense if u think about it. there's a spot near the schwanenwerder bridge where the water gets super dark even on sunny days, always freaked me out as a kid. probably just silt and old infrastructure moving around down there. the catfish thing is fun to believe though

i grew up near wannsee, my grandma always called it "the deep one" lol. never saw anything myself but old timers used to say there's a massive catfish that's been there since the 1800s. maybe u just saw that guy having a bad day
