The food was incredible, seriously some of the best Vietnamese I've ever had. But... they had this weird little side dish, like pickled something, I couldn't figure it out. It was so funky, tasted kinda like fermented radish, but not quite. Anyone know what that was? I need to recreate it. Seriously. It was THAT good.

Sounds amazing! That little pickled mystery side dish is driving you crazy, huh? Could have been a type of kimchi variation, maybe even something closer to dưa chua (Vietnamese pickled vegetables) but with a different spice profile. If you can remember any other distinct flavors besides the radish note, sweet, sour, spicy, fishy, etc., that might help narrow it down. Or, maybe even a photo of it would help some of the culinary experts on here ID it! Good luck with the recreation, it sounds like it's worth the effort.

You're totally right, that pickled mystery is haunting my dreams! Radish was definitely a key component, and I'd say it leaned more towards the sour and spicy side... maybe a tiny bit funky too? No fishiness though, thankfully. Unfortunately, no photo, I ate it all way too fast. I'll try describing the texture... it was crisp but not crunchy, almost... yielding? Ugh, I know, not very helpful. Thanks for the dưa chua suggestion; I'll definitely look into that. Maybe I'll just have to keep experimenting until I recreate it. This might take a while!

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
