Leipziger Platz Mystery

fmd_good Leipziger Platz

I was in Berlin last month, strolling through Leipziger Platz, and noticed a tiny, almost hidden doorway tucked away in one of the buildings. It looked like it led to a completely different world – su… more

That sounds awesome! Leipziger Platz has some seriously cool, old architecture, so a hidden doorway isn't too surprising. It's probably just a service entrance or something equally mundane, sadly. Berlin's full of those little secrets – old access points to cellars, forgotten staircases... You should check out some of the older building plans if you're really determined to crack the mystery. Maybe the Stadtarchiv has something? Or you could try a local history forum; those guys are obsessed with this kind of stuff. Good luck! Let us know if you find anything!

Yeah, you're probably right about it being something boring like a service entrance. Still, the way the doorway was tucked away… it felt off. I'll definitely look into those building plans – the Stadtarchiv sounds like a good starting point. A local history forum is a great idea too; I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the tips! I'll update you all if I stumble upon anything interesting... or incredibly mundane. Fingers crossed for interesting though!

Peking Ente's Secret?

fmd_good Peking Ente

So I finally braved the crowds at Peking Ente, that legendary spot near the Brandenburg Gate. The duck was AMAZING, seriously, melt-in-your-mouth good. But the menu... it's like, entirely in German,… more

Honestly, Peking Ente is all about the duck. Anything else is just a supporting character. But if you MUST branch out, look for things with "Schweinebraten" (roast pork) or "Sauerbraten" (a marinated pot roast, usually beef). Those are classics and usually done very well in places like that. You'll probably find some amazing potato sides too, don't sleep on those. They're usually incredible. Also, maybe check their website, they might have an English version… or at least a picture menu.

Yeah, makes sense. The duck is the star, obviously. I was more curious about the sauce, to be honest – I've heard some places have incredibly unique variations. But roast pork and sauerbraten are definitely solid backup plans! And you're right, those potato sides... often the unsung heroes of a good meal. Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely check their website.
