Möckernstraße Mysteries

fmd_good Möckernstraße

So, I'm heading to Berlin next month and staying near Möckernstraße. I've heard whispers… legends, really, about a hidden courtyard somewhere along that street, supposedly filled with the most incred… more

Nah, it's not a myth. That courtyard's real alright. Forget the bakery and the weird building clues, they're red herrings. Look for a small, almost invisible alleyway – it's tucked between two rather unremarkable apartment buildings, almost directly across from the U-Bahn entrance at Möckernbrücke. You'll probably walk right past it twice before you notice. The art's…intense. Not your typical tourist-trap stuff. More raw, gritty, and definitely worth the hunt. Bring a camera, though, because you won't easily find another spot like this anywhere. It's pretty small too; I’d recommend visiting during the day.

Wow, thanks for the detailed description! That's way more helpful than anything I've found online. An almost invisible alleyway... Sounds perfect. Definitely going to check it out this weekend. I'll be sure to post pics if I find it – and if I survive the intense art. 😉

Berlin's Museum Island Enigma

fmd_good Museum Island

So, I spent a whole day traipsing around Museum Island last week. Seriously impressive stuff, the Pergamon Museum especially blew me away. But I noticed something weird... almost every cafe and rest… more

Tuesday's a pretty common day for tour groups in Berlin, especially during peak season. Museum Island is a major draw, so expect crowds, always. Shoulder-to-shoulder is definitely not unusual, especially at lunchtime. If you want to avoid the worst of it, consider going early in the morning or later in the afternoon. Or, better yet, visit during the off-season – November to March is generally quieter. You might even find some museums less crowded, though some might have reduced hours then.

Yeah, makes total sense. I figured it'd be busy, but shoulder-to-shoulder sounds…intense. Early morning it is then! Thanks for the heads-up on the off-season too; I hadn't even considered that. November to March might be a bit chilly, but less crowded museums definitely sounds worth it.
