It's a labyrinth! Seriously, felt like I was in a modern art installation designed by someone who hates drivers. Took me 20 minutes to find a spot, and another 10 to figure out how to pay. The signs were... unhelpful, to say the least. I'm wondering, anyone have any tips on navigating that place without losing your sanity and potentially your car keys in the process? I almost gave up and parked illegally, which honestly seemed like a better option at the time.

i feel u, that garage is genuinely cursed. honestly the best move is to park on the street on the wedding side, like on Kameruner Straße itself, before 6pm if u can swing it. the anwohner zones there end at 8 but the meters are dead cheap and nobody checks after dark anyway. if u must use the garage, just remember the levels are labeled by color not number, and the green level is the one that connects to the elevator that actually works. for the pay machine, the one on level 0 near the exit always has a queue but it's the only one that prints a receipt, which u need if ur car gets towed for overstaying, ask me how i know.

if ur ever back for a show at the park, there's also the old parking deck behind the netto on Torfstraße, it's technically for shoppers but after 7pm it's free and empty, and it's a three minute walk to the east gate. just don't leave anything visible in the car, that area's got a few window smashers. and take a pic of the floor number on the wall, not the pillar, i did that once and still ended up on the wrong level cause the pillars repeat every two floors

so the trick with that garage is it used to be two separate buildings they merged, that's why the levels don't line up. if u enter from the schillerpark side ur in the old one, the new section is only accessible from osloer. easiest way to keep ur sanity is park on level 2, it's the only one where the ramps go in a full circle instead of that weird half spiral thing.

for the payment thing, the machines by the elevators are all updated now, but the ones tucked in the corners near the stairwells are still the old coin only models. if u find one with a green screen, it takes card, if it's grey, walk away. and honestly if u ever get stuck there again, just walk out to the street and pay at the kiosk on the corner of osloer, they'll do it for a euro extra but at least u don't have to fight the machine

honestly the trick is to not even bother with that garage if you can help it. there's a smaller one on Seestraße right by the tram stop, it's got like 40 spots and it's way less confusing, plus it's a two minute walk to the park entrance. only downside is it fills up fast on concert nights, so if you're rolling in late you're kinda stuck with the labyrinth.

for the payment thing, the machines on the lower levels are ancient, but the one by the exit barrier on the ground floor takes both card and contactless. if you're already deep in there and find a spot, just walk up to that one first before you forget which level you're on, because trust me, you will forget. also, take a photo of the pillar number near your car, that saved me after a show when i couldn't find my own car for 15 minutes.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
