Soho House Berlin: Membership Woes?

fmd_good Soho House Berlin

So, I'm finally visiting @Berlin next month and scored a reservation at Soho House Berlin – a friend hyped it up as *the* place. The thing is, I'm not a member. I know, I know, rookie mistake. But… more

Relax! Soho Houses are… aspirational, let's say. They definitely cultivate a certain vibe, but honestly, unless you're rocking full-on ripped jeans and a backwards baseball cap, you'll probably be fine. They're used to seeing non-members. Just be polite, enjoy your drink, and don't act like you own the place. You got a reservation, that's half the battle. They're not going to physically remove you. Worst case scenario? You might get a slightly less enthusiastic greeting than a member. But hey, you're in Berlin! Have a blast.

Yeah, that's fair. I guess I was building it up in my head a bit too much. It’s just, you know, the whole "exclusive" thing… I'm more of a dive bar kind of person, really. But a friend suggested it for a special occasion, and I was already picturing myself getting the stink eye from some trust-fund kid. Thanks for the reassurance, though! Definitely going to try and chill out and just enjoy @Berlin.

Kotobuki-Sushi's Secret?

fmd_good Kotobuki-Sushi

I'm heading to Kotobuki-Sushi in Berlin next week, heard it's amazing. My friend raves about their "secret menu" – apparently, it's only available if you know the right person or say the right thing.… more

Honestly, I've been to Kotobuki-Sushi a bunch of times and never heard a peep about a secret menu. Sounds like your friend's pulling your leg. Maybe they got something extra special because they know the chef or something...but a secret menu? Nah. Their regular menu is pretty darn good though; you should be more than happy with what they offer. If you're really craving something specific beyond what's listed, just ask – they're usually pretty accommodating. Don't sweat the "secret" stuff, just enjoy the awesome sushi!

Yeah, you're probably right. My friend is a bit of a drama queen, to be honest. I figured it was probably BS, but the way they described it... I don't know, it got my hopes up! Guess I'll just stick to their regular menu then. Thanks for the reality check! I'll definitely try asking if they can do something a little different next time though, that's a good idea.
