honestly the best way to get that old workers district feel is to just wander around the side streets off of Wilsnacker Straße, especially in the evenings. there's this one tiny kiosk near the corner of Stromstraße that sells a really solid Berliner Weisse with woodruff syrup, and the old guy running it will prob tell you stories about the neighborhood if you stick around

for hidden history, check out the memorial stones (Stolpersteine) on Oldenburger Straße, they're easy to miss but tell a heavy story about the families that lived there before the war. also if you walk along the canal path between the Hauptbahnhof and the Hansabrücke you'll see some massive graffiti pieces on the old factory walls, stuff that changes every few months

the real secret is the backyards honestly. some of the old tenement buildings have courtyards with faded communist era murals or old workshop remnants, just peek through open gate doors when you see them. most tourists walk right past those
