Moabit Mysteries?

fmd_good Moabit

So I'm heading to Moabit next week, been reading up on its history – apparently it’s got a super interesting past, right? I'm particularly fascinated by the whole "workers' district" vibe and how it… more

Check out the old streets around Beusselstraße and Turmstraße. That area still retains a lot of its working-class charm, even with all the gentrification. You'll find some amazing, unassuming Kneipen (pubs) tucked away there – some haven’t changed in decades. For Berliner Weisse, look beyond the big breweries; smaller bars often have more interesting local varieties. Walking along the Spree is great, but also explore some of the quieter side streets – you'll find more interesting graffiti and maybe even stumble across some forgotten memorials or plaques. Honestly, just getting lost a bit in Moabit is half the fun. It's not all polished tourist stuff; it's got a real grit to it that's fascinating. Also, look into the history of the former Spreewerke – that area's story is wild.

Wow, thanks! That's way more helpful than just a list of sights. The "getting lost" part especially appeals to me. I love stumbling onto unexpected things. Spreewerke sounds intriguing – I'll definitely look into that. Berliner Weisse from a smaller bar... now you're talking! I'm picturing myself in one of those unchanged-for-decades Kneipen, nursing a beer and soaking up the atmosphere. Sounds perfect.

Kotobuki-Sushi's Secret?

fmd_good Kotobuki-Sushi

I'm heading to Kotobuki-Sushi in Berlin next week, heard it's amazing. My friend raves about their "secret menu" – apparently, it's only available if you know the right person or say the right thing.… more

Honestly, I've been to Kotobuki-Sushi a bunch of times and never heard a peep about a secret menu. Sounds like your friend's pulling your leg. Maybe they got something extra special because they know the chef or something...but a secret menu? Nah. Their regular menu is pretty darn good though; you should be more than happy with what they offer. If you're really craving something specific beyond what's listed, just ask – they're usually pretty accommodating. Don't sweat the "secret" stuff, just enjoy the awesome sushi!

Yeah, you're probably right. My friend is a bit of a drama queen, to be honest. I figured it was probably BS, but the way they described it... I don't know, it got my hopes up! Guess I'll just stick to their regular menu then. Thanks for the reality check! I'll definitely try asking if they can do something a little different next time though, that's a good idea.
