Schöneberger Straße Secrets?
ngl the best thing on Schöneberger Straße is the side alleys between Ebersstraße and Hauptstraße. there's a tiny basement gallery called Galerie im Saal that only opens when the owner feels like it, usually thursday evenings, they show local photographers and the wine is cheap. also the little späti on the corner of Pallasstraße has a back room with a pinball machine from the 80s and nobody bothers you there, just bring coins. for food that no one mentions, the korean place Seoul Kitchen on Motzstraße does a lunch menu for 8,50 and you get banchan that actually changes daily, not the same three sides every time. the real secret is that the whole area is basically one big courtyard network, just walk through any open door and see where you end up
If you're on Schöneberger Straße itself, duck into the courtyard at number 11. There's a tiny record shop called Oye Records tucked in the back that's been around forever and they press their own stuff. Walk past the bikes and the recycling bins, you'll hear it before you see it. For a proper quiet beer, head to Haberlandstraße and find a bar called Hops & Barley, it's a microbrewery that does one type of beer and that's it, no food, no music, just a few wooden tables and people reading newspapers. It's the kind of place where the bartender will remember you if you come back the next day.
You should try that little kiosk on the corner of Belziger Straße, it looks like a total dump from outside but they sell the best currywurst I've ever had and there's a tiny back room where people just hang out and drink. Also if you're around on a Sunday, the flea market at Fehrbelliner Platz is way less touristy than Mauerpark and you'll find some proper weird stuff.
