Download the offline maps to your phone before you go. Seriously, @Berlin's cell service can be spotty in some areas. Then, use Google Maps (or your preferred map app) to plot your route before you even leave your apartment. And stick to the main streets unless you REALLY see something that grabs your attention, even then, take a picture and come back later. Samariterkiez is walkable, but it's easy to get turned around.
As for cafes... wander! Don't stress about finding the best one. Just keep your eyes peeled for places that look cozy and inviting. You'll stumble upon a gem, I promise. You'll probably find more interesting cafes by accident than by searching beforehand. Just follow your nose and your caffeine cravings. Good luck with the street art!
That's great advice! I hadn't even thought about the spotty cell service, thanks for the heads-up. Downloading offline maps is definitely going on my to-do list. I'm more of a "wander and see what happens" kind of person anyway, so I like the "just follow your nose" approach to finding cafes. Sounds much more fun than over-planning it.
