Netto Marken-Discount: Mystery Meat?

Grabbed a package of what the label claimed was "Wiener Schnitzel," but honestly, I'm still not sure what it actually was. Texture was...off. Taste? Let's just say it defied description. Anyone else have a similar experience? Seriously considering sticking to the bakery section next time. The bread was at least identifiable.

honestly the real move is to just skip netto's entire meat section and go to the butcher counter at kaufland or even the one at hermannplatz if you're near neukölln. their pre-packaged stuff is a gamble but the fresh counter is legit and you can actually see what you're getting. also that "wiener schnitzel" is almost always just pressed pork scraps, not real schnitzel anyway, so you're not missing much

The real trick with Netto is knowing which products are actually worth it. Their branded stuff like Coca-Cola or Haribo is fine, but the store brand meat is where things get sketchy. I've had better luck with their refrigerated pasta salads and ready-made salads, those seem to be consistent. If you're near a Rewe or Edeka, the difference in meat quality is noticeable, even if you pay maybe a euro more per pack.

Yeah, Netto's "Wiener Schnitzel" is...an adventure. I once bought what they called "Gefüllter Paprika", stuffed peppers, and ended up questioning my life choices. Seriously, the filling tasted like sadness seasoned with mystery. Stick to the basics there, maybe even Aldi next time. Their frozen stuff isn't great, but at least it's usually identifiable.

Oh god, I feel you. The Gefüllter Paprika sounds...traumatic. I had a similar experience with their supposedly "Italian" meatballs. They were... beige. And tasted vaguely of disappointment. Aldi's frozen food is definitely the safer bet. At least you know what you're getting, mostly. I've had some questionable Lidl sausages too, though. Maybe we should just stick to fruit and vegetables, haha. Or maybe just cook at home...

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
