ngl the real gem is the old pump house tucked behind the main sheds, most people walk right past it. theres this basement level where the water used to come in, all these weird metal grates and valves rusted solid, the light comes through these tiny windows at ground level so you get these long shadows. just bring a proper flashlight, its pitch black down there and the floor is uneven as hell. security prob wont bother with that spot, its too far from the road for them to notice anyone going in

fwiw the old water tower near the southeastern corner is pretty overlooked, most people gravitate to the sheds or the train graveyard but that tower gives u a solid vantage point for wide shots of the whole complex. just be careful on the spiral stairs, some treads are missing or loose. security patrols the perimeter road every couple hours but they rarely go inside the structures themselves, especially the ones that look structurally unsafe from the outside

the train graveyard at the eastern edge is usually your best bet for that post-apocalyptic feel, fewer eyes on it than the main halls. bring a mask or something, the dust from the old asbestos insulation can get kicked up pretty bad if you're climbing around. security tends to do a drive-by around 4pm then again at dusk, so plan around that if you want to avoid them

Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
