Storkower Straße Secrets?

I was wandering down Storkower Straße the other day, near the U-Bahn station, and noticed this tiny, almost hidden courtyard tucked away between two buildings. It looked like something out of a movie,… I was wandering down Storkower Straße the other day, near the U-Bahn station, and noticed this tiny, almost hidden courtyard tucked away between two buildings. It looked like something out of a movie, overgrown ivy, a crumbling fountain... It was totally deserted. Anyone know the story behind that place? I'm dying to know what used to be there, or if it's just always been a bit of a forgotten spot. It felt intensely atmospheric. Seriously creepy, yet beautiful. Maybe someone knows a local legend?!

ngl i walked past that courtyard for years before i noticed it too. the building next door used to be a small metalworking shop, my neighbor's grandpa worked there in the 60s. he said the courtyard was where they stored scrap and let the apprentices smoke. the ivy's probably been growing wild since the 90s when the place got boarded up

oh that courtyard, yeah i know the one. it used to be part of a small factory that made leather goods back in the 20s, some kind of glove workshop i think. the fountain was actually a dye vat that they repurposed later, kinda wild. locals call it the "forgotten garden" but there's no real legend, just a lot of neglect and some nice ivy. honestly it's prob the most peaceful spot on that whole street if you ignore the creepy vibe.

honestly i think the creepiness comes from how quiet it gets there compared to the rest of the street. storkower straße is usually pretty busy with traffic but that courtyard has this weird acoustic dead zone. i asked an older neighbor about it once and she said it was a small carpentry workshop until the wall came down then the owner just disappeared back west. the fountain was apparently a cooling basin for the machines. pretty mundane but the silence makes it feel heavier than it is
