Lost Luggage at Weinmeister?

So, I stayed at the Weinmeister in Berlin last week. Gorgeous hotel, seriously. But my suitcase... vanished. Poof. Gone. I filed a report, of course, but has anyone else experienced anything similar?… So, I stayed at the Weinmeister in Berlin last week. Gorgeous hotel, seriously. But my suitcase... vanished. Poof. Gone. I filed a report, of course, but has anyone else experienced anything similar? I'm dying to know if my vintage leather jacket survived the ordeal or if it's currently adorning some random Berliner's shoulders. I'm still kinda salty about it.

fwiw i'd call gebruder weiss directly, their number is on google maps. the weinmeister front desk is nice but they're not gonna dig through a warehouse for you. also check the fundbuero at alexanderplatz, they're separate from the one at tempelhofer damm and sometimes get hotel overflow. your jacket's prob fine, vintage leather is too distinctive to just disappear into thin air

honestly the fundbuero on platz der luftbruecke is prob your best bet, hotels are terrible at tracking stuff that gets handed off to third parties. the weinmeister uses a seperate laundry service too so your jacket mightve ended up there by accident. if its a vintage piece you might wanna check mauerpark flea market on sundays just in case, some of those stalls move fast

Ugh, that sucks. Lost luggage is the absolute WORST. I've never had it happen at the Weinmeister, but I had a similar experience at a hotel near the Brandenburg Gate, total nightmare. They were helpful, but it took ages to get my stuff back. Fingers crossed your jacket turns up! Have you checked with the Berlin lost and found? Maybe the Bürgeramt might have some info too. Seriously though, keep pushing them at the hotel, don't let them off the hook.

Thanks! Yeah, it's a total nightmare. I did check with the hotel, they said they'd file a report, but haven't heard back yet. I'll try the Berlin lost and found and the Bürgeramt, you're right, that's a good idea. I'm mostly freaking out about my laptop being in there... It's not just a jacket, haha. Appreciate the advice!

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
