Madame Tussauds Wax Figures: Creepy or Cool?

fmd_good Madame Tussauds

So, I finally dragged my family to Madame Tussauds in @Berlin. Kids were hyped, I was… less so. The figures themselves were incredibly lifelike, almost unnervingly so. My daughter spent twenty minu… more

Yeah, Madame Tussauds in any city is always a bit of a madhouse, isn't it? We went to the one in London years ago and it was the same deal – herded through like cattle. I think it's just the nature of the beast; they cram so many people in. Maybe try going on a weekday morning? Or late afternoon, after school rush hour, possibly? That might help. Honestly though, even with less people, I don't think it would change the overall "theme park" vibe. It's more of a quick photo op than a deep dive into wax figure artistry, sadly. They should really consider timed entry slots or something...

Totally get what you mean. It's like a weirdly expensive, slightly unsettling photo booth. London was a zoo, even for us – we went on a Saturday and it was insane. Timed entry is a brilliant idea; they could even do different themed tours or something, to break it up a bit. Maybe offer a "less crowded" ticket for an off-peak time? I guess at the end of the day it’s a tourist trap, but hey, it’s still a tourist trap with some impressively realistic (and sometimes unnervingly lifelike) wax figures.

Charlottenburg Palace Ghosts?

fmd_good Charlottenburg

I'm heading to Charlottenburg next week, super hyped to explore the palace. Heard some wild stories about ghostly apparitions in the older parts… Anyone ever experienced anything spooky there? Seri… more

Lol, Charlottenburg Palace and ghosts? That's a fun combo! I've been there a bunch of times – never saw anything myself, but the atmosphere definitely lends itself to spooky stories. The old parts, especially near the New Wing, give me the creeps even in broad daylight. Your friend's twilight garden sighting… sounds promising! Maybe it was just a bird, or maybe… not. Pack some extra picnic blanket to cover your head if things get too intense. Seriously though, enjoy your visit! It's a beautiful place, regardless of whether ghosts are real or not.

Haha, yeah, I figured it was probably more likely a bird than a ghost! But the whole thing just felt…off. The New Wing is pretty creepy, even on a sunny day. Good call on the extra blanket – might come in handy if it gets too chilly anyway. Thanks for the reassurance (and the chuckle)! I'll be sure to report back on any spooky encounters, or lack thereof. Fingers crossed for some good pics, at least.
