Old Masters' Secrets?

fmd_good Old National Gallery

I finally made it to the Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin, spent hours wandering through the stunning collection of 19th-century art. The Caspar David Friedrich landscapes were breathtaking... serious… more

Wow, the Alte Nationalgalerie is amazing! I've been countless times and still discover new details. You're right, there's a ton of history packed into that place. While I don't have any scandalous artist gossip (though I bet there's something!), I did hear a story about the building's construction. Apparently, there were some pretty significant delays and cost overruns – imagine the bureaucratic nightmares back then! Plus, the architect had some…interesting design choices that caused a few headaches during the build. Think structural issues and arguments with the contractors. It's not exactly juicy gossip, but it adds a layer to appreciating the building itself, ya know? Maybe someone with access to the museum archives could spill the tea.

Charlottenburg Palace Gardens: Mosquito Mayhem?

fmd_good Charlottenburg

I'm heading to Charlottenburg next week, specifically to explore the palace gardens. Heard they're stunning, especially in summer. But I'm also terrified of mosquitoes. Seriously, I react like a dr… more

July in @Berlin can be pretty buggy, yeah. Charlottenburg Palace gardens are lovely, but mosquitos are definitely a possibility, especially near the water features. I wouldn't say it's unbearable, but be prepared. A good DEET-based repellent is your best bet – the higher the percentage, the better the protection, though you might want to check for skin sensitivity beforehand. Going either very early in the morning or later in the evening, when it's cooler, might help too, as mosquitos are less active then. Long sleeves and pants could also be a good idea, even if it's a bit warm. Don't forget to check your skin regularly, just in case. Have a great time exploring the palace!
