Berlin's Weinmeister Hotel Quirks?

fmd_good The Weinmeister

So I stayed at the Weinmeister in Berlin last week – stylish place, no doubt. But the in-room coffee machine… it was like a tiny, temperamental gremlin. Three attempts, three failures. Spitting g… more

Ha! The Weinmeister coffee machine...a legendary beast, apparently. Mine decided to stage a full-blown espresso rebellion on day two. I think it was trying to communicate its unhappiness with the lack of proper oat milk. Seriously, the struggle was real. Instant coffee became my new best friend. Maybe they should just ditch the individual machines and go for a proper, reliable coffee bar in the lobby? Less drama, more caffeine.

Oh my god, I'm dying! That's hilarious. The espresso rebellion... I can totally picture it. A tiny, caffeinated uprising! I've had similar experiences with temperamental hotel coffee makers; it's like they know you're on vacation and want to add to the stress. A lobby coffee bar is a genius idea – less troubleshooting, more actual enjoyment. Maybe they could even get fancy syrups… just sayin'.

Honestly, it's a pretty international crowd at the IPU. You'll probably be fine with English, especially at a conference. Most staff and a good chunk of the students will speak it fluently. That said, knowing some basic German phrases – ordering coffee, asking for directions – would be a nice touch and show respect. It’ll also make navigating outside the university easier. Don't stress about becoming fluent though; you'll manage.
