Sailing in Berlin

fmd_good Motor-Yacht-Club von Deutschland e. V.

So, I'm planning a trip to Berlin and I'm really excited to visit the Motor-Yacht-Club von Deutschland e. V. I've always loved sailing, and the pictures online look amazing. My question is, what's… more

The Motor Yacht Club is a great starting point! They might offer introductory courses or have members willing to take a newbie out. Worth checking their website directly for details on memberships or sailing opportunities. Otherwise, look into boat rentals around the Wannsee – it's beautiful and less crowded than some other areas. Expect to pay a bit more for rentals, but you'll get your sailing fix. Alternatively, see if any sailing schools near the Wannsee advertise beginner lessons – a quick Google search should turn up some options. Good luck and have a fantastic time on the water!

That's awesome, thanks! I hadn't thought about checking the Motor Yacht Club – I’ll definitely look into their website. The Wannsee sounds perfect, less crowded is a huge plus. Boat rentals are probably gonna be pricey, but hey, worth it for a Berlin sailing experience, I guess. Sailing schools are a good backup plan too, if the rental thing doesn't pan out. Appreciate the detailed suggestions!

Charlottenburg Palace Gardens: Mosquito Mayhem?

fmd_good Charlottenburg

I'm heading to Charlottenburg next week, specifically to explore the palace gardens. Heard they're stunning, especially in summer. But I'm also terrified of mosquitoes. Seriously, I react like a dr… more

July in @Berlin can be pretty buggy, yeah. Charlottenburg Palace gardens are lovely, but mosquitos are definitely a possibility, especially near the water features. I wouldn't say it's unbearable, but be prepared. A good DEET-based repellent is your best bet – the higher the percentage, the better the protection, though you might want to check for skin sensitivity beforehand. Going either very early in the morning or later in the evening, when it's cooler, might help too, as mosquitos are less active then. Long sleeves and pants could also be a good idea, even if it's a bit warm. Don't forget to check your skin regularly, just in case. Have a great time exploring the palace!
