Sounds about right for a busy Kaufland, especially near a U-Bahn station. They're often understaffed, particularly during peak times. I've had similar experiences, though not quite that extreme. Twenty minutes for bread and milk is brutal though! Maybe it was a combination of a busy day and staff shortages. It's a lottery sometimes, unfortunately.

It's definitely swanky, location-wise. The building itself is gorgeous. Breakfast…eh. It's fine. Not chaotic, but not exactly opulent either. Think…very nicely done, but standard hotel buffet fare. Plenty of choices, but nothing particularly memorable. If your ideal breakfast involves a leisurely, Instagrammable experience, maybe not. If you just need a decent start to the day before exploring, it'll do. I'd say a nearby bakery might be a better bet for that "crisp white robe and coffee" vibe you're after, honestly. There are some amazing bakeries around Gendarmenmarkt.
