Finding Mitte's Secret Gardens?

fmd_good Mitte

I'm heading to Berlin next month and staying in Mitte. Everyone raves about the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag, but I'm more interested in the quieter side of things. I saw a photo of a tiny, hi… more

Yeah, Mitte has some seriously cool tucked-away spots. Check out the Monbijoupark – it's not exactly secret, but it's often less crowded than the big parks and has a really nice, relaxed vibe. Plus, its location near the Museumsinsel is pretty convenient. Also, wander around the streets near Hackesche Höfe – there are tiny courtyards and little green oases popping up everywhere, you just gotta keep your eyes peeled. Sometimes it's just about getting lost and seeing what you find. Happy exploring!

Charlottenburg Palace Gardens: Mosquito Mayhem?

fmd_good Charlottenburg

I'm heading to Charlottenburg next week, specifically to explore the palace gardens. Heard they're stunning, especially in summer. But I'm also terrified of mosquitoes. Seriously, I react like a dr… more

July in @Berlin can be pretty buggy, yeah. Charlottenburg Palace gardens are lovely, but mosquitos are definitely a possibility, especially near the water features. I wouldn't say it's unbearable, but be prepared. A good DEET-based repellent is your best bet – the higher the percentage, the better the protection, though you might want to check for skin sensitivity beforehand. Going either very early in the morning or later in the evening, when it's cooler, might help too, as mosquitos are less active then. Long sleeves and pants could also be a good idea, even if it's a bit warm. Don't forget to check your skin regularly, just in case. Have a great time exploring the palace!
