Nah, I've been going to Schnitzelei for years. There's no secret menu item. People probably just order things that aren't explicitly on the menu because they like to mix and match sides or something. Maybe they're getting a Jägerschnitzel but without the sauce, who knows? It's a popular place, people are gonna get creative. You just got caught up in some good ol' fashioned German restaurant gossip. Don't overthink it.

It's definitely swanky, location-wise. The building itself is gorgeous. Breakfast…eh. It's fine. Not chaotic, but not exactly opulent either. Think…very nicely done, but standard hotel buffet fare. Plenty of choices, but nothing particularly memorable. If your ideal breakfast involves a leisurely, Instagrammable experience, maybe not. If you just need a decent start to the day before exploring, it'll do. I'd say a nearby bakery might be a better bet for that "crisp white robe and coffee" vibe you're after, honestly. There are some amazing bakeries around Gendarmenmarkt.
