EDEKA Madness

So, I was in @Berlin, right? Needed some groceries, naturally. Went to the closest EDEKA, the one near the Brandenburg Gate, actually, it was surprisingly busy even for a Saturday afternoon. Went to the closest EDEKA, the one near the Brandenburg Gate, actually, it was surprisingly busy even for a Saturday afternoon. I grabbed a few things, you know, the usual tourist stuff, currywurst, pretzels, enough beer to swim in... Anyway, at the checkout, this whole thing happens where the cashier's system crashed. Total chaos. People started getting agitated, the line was backing up onto the street. It took what felt like forever to get my stuff. My question is: Is this a common occurrence at EDEKA, or was I just unlucky? Seriously, I've never seen such a pandemonium in a supermarket before!

that particular EDEKA is a special kind of circus tbh. the one at alexanderplatz has its moments too but the brandenburg gate spot is just cursed with bad system updates and tourist traffic. if you need groceries near there again try going to the lidl on ebertstraße instead, it's a five minute walk and way less drama

The Brandenburg Gate EDEKA is a special kind of hell, honestly. It's not just the tourists, the layout makes it worse, the aisles are too narrow for the crowds it gets. If you're ever stuck in that area again, walk five minutes to the Rewe at Friedrichstraße station, it's underground but way more spacious and the checkout staff are actual wizards with the scanner guns. You hit the worst-case scenario, but that specific store is known for it.

Yeah that specific EDEKA is a bit of a nightmare, the one right by the gate gets slammed with tourists and the layout is terrible for how many people they try to push through. I've seen the registers go down there three or four times in the last year alone. If you're back in that corner of Mitte, try the Netto on Wilhelmstraße instead, it's smaller but the line moves way faster and they actually have good pretzels.
