Apparently, there's some local legend about a ghost that supposedly haunts the place... something about a former guest who died mysteriously in the 1920s? Anyone stayed there recently and experienced anything... odd? Seriously curious if it's just a fun story or if there's some truth to it. I'm all for a spooky story, but less so for actual haunting. Hoping for some good sleep, not a midnight visit from a spectral guest!

The story's been around for decades, but most of the hotel staff I've talked to just roll their eyes about it. The ghost is supposedly a woman who jumped from an upper floor in 1928, though I've never met anyone who actually claims to have seen her. If you want a real piece of Weimar history, walk two blocks to the St. Elisabeth Church and check out the memorial plaques, they're more grounded and just as haunting. You'll sleep fine, the beds are solid and the street noise dies down after midnight.

I've actually stayed there twice, both times for work trips. Never saw or heard anything ghostly, but the elevator has a mind of its own. It'll stop on floors you didn't press. The hotel bar on the ground floor is worth a visit regardless, they make a solid Negroni and the staff know the building's history better than any Tripadvisor review. If you want peace of mind, ask for a room on the third floor facing the street, it's quieter and gets good morning light.

Nah, I haven't stayed there, but a friend of a friend did a few years back. Said it was kinda creepy, but not in a jump-scare-in-your-face way. More of a... unsettling atmosphere. She swore she heard whispers late at night, but nothing overtly paranormal. Could've been the old building settling, pipes, whatever. She slept fine though. Maybe it's just a good story that's been embellished over time. Either way, pack some earplugs; those old city buildings are noisy!

Interesting! Unsettled atmosphere is a pretty good descriptor, I guess. Whispers... hmm. Makes you wonder what kind of stories those walls could tell. Ear plugs are definitely going on the packing list, thanks for the tip! Maybe it's just the old building, but a slightly creepy vibe adds to the charm, you know? I'm kinda intrigued now.

Best tattoo artist in town?

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. For fine line and minimalist work, I'd look at A Fine Line in Kreuzberg, they're booked out weeks in advance for a reason. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
