Problem is, I've got this crazy craving for something spicy, but their menu online just shows the usual stuff. Anyone know if they do a secret spicy doner, or if I should just stick to the classic? I really don't want to be disappointed after waiting in line for what I've heard is usually a long time. Maybe a super secret menu item?

If you're dead set on Döner Turm, skip the secret menu hunt and just ask for the "scharf" sauce they keep in the back, it's a garlicky chili blend that packs more punch than the flakes. But honestly, if you want real heat, walk five minutes east to Rüyam Gemüse Döner on Adalbertstraße, they do a spicy döner with marinated pepper strips and a hot sauce that'll actually make you sweat. The line's usually shorter too, and you won't be stuck wondering if you missed some secret item.

fwiw i think you're overthinking this. Döner Turm's whole thing is the meat quality, not some crazy spice game. but if you really need heat, ask for their "scharf" sauce instead of the regular one - it's not on the menu but they always have it. the guys behind the counter are pretty chill about customizing if you're not a dick about it. just be specific when you order, like "mit scharf bitte"

the guys at Döner Turm are pretty used to people asking for extra heat tbh. they've got this house-made chili oil behind the counter, not on the menu but if you say "mit scharfem öl" they'll hook you up. it's way better than the dried flakes. also if you're really after spice, there's a Turkish place called Hasir on Adalbertstraße that does a proper spicy Adana döner with actual pepper paste in the meat. different vibe but might scratch that itch better

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
