Berlin Bureaucracy Blues?

I had a meeting there, and honestly, the sheer amount of paperwork... I felt like I was navigating a labyrinth of forms! It was all very official, very serious. Even the potted plants seemed to exude a sense of bureaucratic weight. My question is: do the people who work there ever feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of...stuff? It's a genuine wonder how they manage it all.

if your meeting was in the Kanzleramt the vibe is different from the ministries, that place runs on a tight protocol schedule and most staff there are just doing their rotation before moving on. one thing visitors never clock: a lot of the "paperwork labyrinth" is actually duplicated across Bund and Land, so the same form exists in two systems that dont talk to each other. thats why it feels infinite. if you're stuck near there again, the Spreebogen park behind it is a decent spot to decompress, way better than standing in the lobby.

honestly the people inside are mostly fine, it's the rest of us who suffer. that building you mean is probably the Paul-Löbe-Haus or the Kanzleramt depending on where your meeting was, & the staff there have it down to a routine. the real pain is when they send you to the Bürgeramt to register something & you're refreshing the appointment page at 7am like it's concert tickets.

ngl the potted plants thing is real, those federal buildings have facilities staff who water them on a schedule and everything is contracted out. i did a Praktikum in one of the ministries years ago and the weird part is nobody there feels the weight day to day, they just process their one little file and go home. the overwhelm hits you as the visitor because you see the whole chain at once. if you're back near there, grab a coffee at the Bundespressekonferenz cafe area, way calmer than the main canteen.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
