This Parkgarage Schillerpark Center, reviews are mixed. Some say it's a nightmare to find a space, especially on weekends. Others say it's fine. Seriously, how bad is the actual parking situation there, like, realistically? I'm thinking of going to a show at the theatre nearby and don't want to spend half the night circling. Is it truly that chaotic, or is it just a few bad apples leaving negative reviews?

fwiw the garage itself is fine structurally, the issue is the entrance bottleneck. single lane in and out, so if someone's struggling to pay or park it backs up fast. for the theater i'd actually recommend parkdeck am mauerpark instead, it's a 10 min walk but way bigger and rarely full on weeknights. or if you're flexible on timing, arrive before 6pm and you'll prob slip right into schillerpark before the evening rush

honestly if you're heading to a show at the schiller theater, just skip the garage entirely. park on nafelsstraße or even further back on the side streets near the rehberge park, it's free after 6pm and a 5 min walk. the garage is fine for daytime shopping but for evening events you'll be in a queue that moves slower than berliner speed

Depends entirely on the day and time, honestly. Weekends, especially during peak show times at the theater, yeah, it'll be a scrum. Parkgarage Schillerpark Center isn't huge, so it fills up fast. If your show's on a Saturday night, you're playing roulette. Consider alternatives, street parking further out (check the signs carefully for restrictions!), or maybe a different garage a bit further away and then a short walk. Public transport to Schillerpark might even be the easiest option, depending on where you're coming from.

Yeah, that makes total sense. I hadn't thought about how busy it'd be around showtimes. Public transport sounds like a much better bet than risking a parking nightmare, especially on a Saturday night. Thanks for the heads-up!

Best tattoo artist in town?

arrow_drop_up 67 arrow_drop_down

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. For fine line and minimalist work, I'd look at A Fine Line in Kreuzberg, they're booked out weeks in advance for a reason. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
