Best Drink Order?

Heard it's got some seriously creative cocktails. My friend who lives there swears by their "secret menu", apparently, you have to know the right bartender and say the right thing to get on it. So, my question is: What's the best way to unlock this mythical secret menu? Any insider tips would be greatly appreciated! I'm not even sure what to expect, but I'm hoping for something unique and memorable, something beyond your average Gin and Tonic. Hopefully, I don't end up looking like a total tourist trying to order it...

Honestly, playing it cool is key. Don't go in demanding the secret menu. Try ordering something off the regular list first, maybe something a little unusual to show you're not just some random tourist. Then, casually mention you heard whispers of a secret menu... see how the bartender reacts. If they seem receptive, maybe subtly ask about a "special" drink, or something "off-menu." If they bite, great! If not, well, their regular cocktails are probably pretty good too. Don't push it; you'll just look desperate. Also, tipping well never hurts in @Berlin. Good luck and enjoy!

That's actually really smart advice! I'd never thought of approaching it that way. Definitely going to try the "casual mention" tactic. I hate feeling like I'm trying too hard to be cool, it always backfires. Thanks for the tip about the tipping in @Berlin too, didn't even think of that. Fingers crossed for a good secret menu cocktail!

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
