Bio Company Checkout Chaos?

Trying to buy some ethically-sourced kale and a loaf of sourdough. The queue is longer than a python after a particularly good meal... and moving slower than molasses in January. I swear, the cashier was meticulously arranging the avocados by shade of green. Seriously, shade of GREEN! Is this normal? Is this some kind of unspoken Bio Company initiation rite? Or am I just unlucky?

The checkout speed really depends on which Bio Company you're at. The one on Torstrasse in Mitte is notorious for slow lines, but the one near Friedrichshain on Boxhagener Platz usually moves faster. I've noticed that paying with card instead of cash tends to speed things up since some cashiers have to manually count change. Try going around 11am on a Tuesday or Wednesday if you can, that's when I've found the shortest waits.

ngl the real pro move is to check if they have the scan-as-you-shop handhelds at the entrance. the one on schönhauser allee has them and you just scan everything as you go then pay at a dedicated terminal, skips the whole queue drama. takes a bit to get used to but once you do it's a game changer for those slow days

It's not just you, that particular location has a vibe all its own. I live nearby and I've timed the checkout at over ten minutes during the lunch rush. If you're near the one on Torstrasse, try the smaller Bio Company on Oderberger Strasse instead, it's usually quieter and the cashiers are less into produce curation.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
