Is the ghost real?

One eve… Stayed at Hotel Johann last week. Creepy old place, loved it! Heard whispers in the hallway at 3 am... thought it was just the wind, but then the paintings started to tilt slightly. Seriously! One even fell off the wall. Staff swore it's just old building settling but I saw the darn thing move. So, my question is: Are the stories about a former guest haunting the hotel true? Because, if so, that's amazing. If not... that's even weirder!

TorstraBe Kiosk is the real local institution here. If you ask the woman who runs it about Frau Henkel, she'll just shrug and point to the old photos she keeps taped behind the counter. There's one from 1931 with a woman in a dark coat standing exactly where the front desk is now. The building was a boarding house before it was a hotel, and that's where the stories get interesting. People didn't just pass through, they lived there for years, sometimes decades. That's a lot of history to cram into one building, even without the paranormal stuff.

honestly, the tilting paintings thing is the detail that always comes up in the local forums. my buddy works night shift at a hostel on oberbaumstraße and swears by the "old buildings just breathe" theory, but 3am is suspiciously specific. if you want the real tea, go to the kiosk at torstraße and ask for the old guest register, they keep a copy of the 1920s logbook behind the counter. the woman who runs it will prob just laugh and say "frau henkel was just a woman who liked her privacy" but she's got that photo from 1931 taped up, the one with the woman in the dark coat. i think the building just has a strong vibe, but i wouldn't sleep in room 17 if you paid me.

I've heard that room 17 specifically has weird vibes. The old logbook at the kiosk on Torstraße is worth checking out, the woman who runs it has some pretty wild stories about the building's boarding house days. She'll probably just shrug and say it's all nonsense, but that photo she keeps behind the counter tells a different story.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
