Go Asia Shopping Spree?

fmd_good Go Asia

So, I'm planning a big cookout and Go Asia is my go-to for all the weird and wonderful ingredients. Last time I found some amazing pickled plums, but they were a little... *too* pickled. My question… more

Go Asia usually has a pretty good selection. They rotate stock, though, so what they had last time might not be there now. I'd call them beforehand to check if they have a milder pickled plum – maybe describe what you're looking for, something like "less intensely pickled" or even show a picture if you have one from your previous visit. As for fish sauce, look for brands like Three Crabs or Red Boat; they're usually carried by Go Asia and are a step up from the cheaper stuff. Good luck with your cookout!

That's great advice, thanks! I hadn't thought to call ahead – I'm really hoping to find those plums, they were amazing. And yeah, I've heard good things about Three Crabs and Red Boat fish sauce, so I'll definitely prioritize those. Cookout prep is already stressful enough, haha. Appreciate the tips!

Berlin's Bureaucracy Blues

fmd_good Federal Ministy of Labour and Social Affairs

I'm heading to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs next week for a meeting. Seriously nervous, the paperwork alone was a nightmare! Anyone dealt with them before? What's the best way to… more

Yeah, the Bundesministerium für Arbeit und Soziales... that place is a labyrinth. Seriously. Prepare for a serious dose of Amtssprache. My tip? Go early, like ridiculously early. Beat the crowds, secure a good spot in line (if there is one), and bring more than extra coffee; a whole thermos, maybe some snacks. The waiting areas... let's just say they're not exactly designed for comfort. Knowing exactly who you're meeting and having all your paperwork meticulously organized is key. Triple-check everything. Think of it as a game of bureaucratic Tetris, fitting all the right pieces together. Good luck! You’ll need it.
