Some were amazing, some tasted like dishwater with lime. I tried at least six different places, from tiny beach shacks to fancy resorts. Seriously, what's the secret to a killer margarita down here? I need to know for next time. I want the recipe of the best one I had, that place had some crazy good ones!

You've got some solid local intel already. I'd add that ORA on Oranienplatz does a weekend brunch margarita that's worth planning for. They use fermented lime and a touch of saltbush, which sounds fancy but just tastes like the most balanced marg you'll have. No idea if it matches your Cancun memory, but it's the one I keep going back for.

You're not going to find that Cancun resort recipe replicated here. Berlin's margarita game leans more experimental than traditional. Try the smoked chili margarita at Becketts Kopf on Pappelallee, they infuse their own jalapeno syrup and it's properly spicy without being gimmicky. The bartender there told me they use Altos Plata and Cointreau, no triple sec shortcuts. If you want something closer to what you had, ask for the Tommy's margarita at Buck and Breck, they use agave nectar instead of orange liqueur and it's much cleaner on the palate.

If you want to recreate that Cancun magic at home, hit up a Mexican grocery store like El Rincón Latino on Sonnenallee. They have fresh limes for under a euro and proper agave syrup, none of the triple sec nonsense. For the salt rim, skip the table salt and use sal de gusano if you can find it, it's got that earthy kick that pairs with the lime. That smoky bar in Neukölln someone mentioned is good but it's a different vibe entirely.

Best tattoo artist in town?

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. For fine line and minimalist work, I'd look at A Fine Line in Kreuzberg, they're booked out weeks in advance for a reason. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
