The street's a real mix, trendy boutiques next to old-school shops, street art everywhere. I stumbled upon this tiny, unassuming bakery, the smell alone was incredible. I bought a pretzel, but honestly, it was the best pretzel I've ever had. Seriously, magical. My question is: what other hidden culinary gems are tucked away on Grunerstraße that I missed? I'm going back next month and want to find more amazing food... and maybe some cool vintage finds.

That Grunerstraße pretzel sounds epic! I've spent a fair bit of time wandering around that area myself. For vintage, check out the smaller side streets branching off, you'll find some real treasure troves tucked away in those less obvious spots. Food-wise, there's a little Vietnamese place a few blocks over, near the U-Bahn station, I can't remember the name, but it's usually packed, which is always a good sign. And if you're into Turkish food, there's a fantastic Döner place near the Mauerpark, not directly on Grunerstraße but worth the short walk. Honestly, just exploring the area is half the fun; you stumble on stuff constantly. Happy hunting!

Wow, thanks for the tips! Packed Vietnamese place, I'm sold. Definitely sounds better than hunting for that elusive pretzel again. I'll hit up those side streets too, you're right, the less obvious spots are where the cool stuff usually hides. Mauerpark Döner is also a great idea, I love a good Döner. Thanks again, this is super helpful!

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
